Our focus is local with a global vision
Johnstown Christian School provides Christian families with a Christ-centered education which prepares their children spiritually, academically, and socially to live for the glory of God.
Students will be prepared spiritually in their commitment to Christ and their development of a Christian world and life view, academically with a quality curriculum, and socially through the development of Godly character traits.
I took this picture of my daughter’s “to do” board this morning. It made me laugh, but it also made me thankful. She just started her junior year at Johnstown Christian School, and without JCS, I doubt that note would be on her “to do” board. Many have asked why we send our children to a Christian school which requires significant personal sacrifice of time and money. This. This is why. I am not wired to homeschool (someone would end up dead so kudos to anyone who can) and while I know many terrific Christian kids that go to public schools and equally fantastic Christian public school teachers, at JCS, Jesus is the focus. Learning about Him through all school subjects from math to science to music. Testing everything through a Biblical worldview in classes led by Christian teachers. Not that they are in a bubble, but that they learn to think critically and express themselves as Christians in a crazy world. Not that JCS is perfect, as the school consists of human beings. We have our share of issues with teachers, social challenges with friends, and a younger son who will never like school. Ever. BUT that they are learning tools needed to face an increasingly Godless society. Our oldest son now attends college at a large, public university. At 18 away from home, he quickly found his beliefs tested, but he knew how to respond in part because of the education he received at JCS. He was academically well-prepared, but also spiritually well-prepared. His friends at college have called him for help in the middle of the night with a variety of issues from underage drinking to unsafe situations—and he hasn’t preached a word, it’s just the way he lives. Again, I am thankful. Thankful to God and thankful to JCS for continuing to help “train up a child in the way he should go, that when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This is why.
Please consider giving as JCS is located in an economically depressed area and the majority of our students cannot afford tuition without assistance.
