Sarah Huston, a 2022 graduate, spent the summer of 2025 interning with Cottage Ministries, a young adult ministry based in Williamsport, PA. During her internship, Sarah led several Bible studies each week and participated in daily Bible discussions with her fellow interns.
One of the highlights of Sarah’s internship was leading a mission trip to Farmington, New Mexico, from June 24 to July 2, 2025. The group worked alongside Higher Grounds Church and the Bielecki family, who have dedicated their lives to reaching the Navajo people through their ministry.
The Navajo people have a deeply spiritual culture, often turning to witchdoctors, Skinwalkers, and nature gods for guidance. Their spiritual goal is to achieve balance in mind, body, and spirit. While the team heard many stories of spiritual encounters with the physical world, they were reminded throughout their trip that the Lord has ultimate power over the enemy, and we can always call on Him in times of need.
Sarah and her team primarily worked with the Bielecki family, who had recently moved off the reservation after serving there for nine years. Originally from Wisconsin, the Bieleckis were called to the Navajo reservation, where they ministered to the community for nearly a decade. Now, through their Matthew 28 Ministries, they open their garage and offer free use of tools and equipment on Fridays to help locals work on their vehicles. In return, they share the gospel over lunch.
Over the course of the week, Sarah and her team painted the exterior of the Bieleckis’ new property, including their garage and other buildings. They also participated in “Open Shop” events where they built relationships with the local community while offering assistance with vehicle repairs.
Another group from Sarah’s team worked on improving the facilities at Higher Grounds Church to accommodate its growing congregation.
Throughout the trip, Sarah was deeply encouraged by the Bielecki family’s story—how God had led them to the reservation and how He continues to provide for them. Their faith was a powerful reminder of God’s ongoing provision, and Sarah was encouraged to pray expectantly, trusting the Lord in all circumstances.
