This past June, Aubrey Cook (‘19) traveled to Tecate, Mexico, with 16 other people including her dad. They poured seven slab foundations [that would allow homes to be built through other teams coming down on mission trips]. Her team also built a 12 x 16 house. The small size of this home impacted Aubrey deeply. She said, “Their whole house is smaller than my room. You really start to become thankful for what you have. It was very eye opening.” The family they built the house for had two children, a 4-year old daughter and a 6-year old son. The mother worked in a factory due to her husband suffering a stroke. When their mom returned home from work, the house was complete. The family was
filled with so much joy! Aubrey and her dad dedicated two suitcases filled with clothes, toys, shoes and other items to deliver on their trip. Aubrey says, “It was an amazing experience and one that I will never forget. There is so much to tell so please come ask me about it.”
